The opportunity: 

Uphold is looking for a Managing Director of Equities to join our Consumer Wallet Team reporting to the Chief Revenue & Chief Product Officer. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity where you’ll get to create a differentiated fractional equities product for worldwide distribution with particular focus on the U.S. market in 2022. You will have overall commercial and strategic responsibility for the equities channel. This encompasses product strategy, product design, product differentiation by region, product positioning by market, product specification, competitor analysis and strategic marketing. We are looking for a senior product person who has helped to build a successful equities trading platform in the United States and scaled the model into other territories. You’ll be familiar with the Regulatory landscape in the U.S. and other important markets. Most importantly you’ll have an intimate understanding of the U.S. retail equities market and the gaps we can take advantage of to create a useful product that fulfils a need in the market. 


Your mission is to build an equities business for Uphold that eclipses the success of our incumbent cryptocurrency business.

What you’ll be doing primarily:

  • Launching a competitive fractional U.S. equities product in the U.S. in Q1 2022.
  • Researching our competitors in order to differentiate our product offering and tailoring it for the market.
  • Recruiting a team of engineers, product specialists, marketers and compliance people to support the launch.
  • Creating a compelling value proposition for our fractional equities product.
  • Overseeing the design of the equities UX.
  • Deciding financial content:  which equities and ETFS to list and expanding from 50 to at least 3,500 symbols.
  • Choosing what account functionality and features to offer - e.g., margin trading, call and put options, shorting stock.
  • Rolling the above into a product roadmap with functionality prioritised by commercial value.
  • Helping devise and execute an effective marketing and PR campaign to launch our push into the U.S.
  • Deciding which new markets we should enter when and coordinating the acquisition of the necessary regulatory licenses.
  • Overseeing regional product differentiation and competitive positioning.
  • Act as principal company spokesman and ambassador about equities both internally and externally.


Bonus if you have:

  • Series 7, Series 24 or Series 63 Certifications
  • Experience launching fractional equities products
  • Experience launching equities in Europe
  • An MBA
  • A track record as a successful equities trader
  • An active leader of an online community for consumer equity investors.
