The opportunity: 

Uphold is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team in New York. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity where you’ll get to support Uphold’s financial staff in all financial matters by working with the CFO and VP, Accounting to implement controls and manage company financial records. 


What you’ll be doing primarily:

  • Reconcile Daily Cryptocurrency Positions from Frontend to Backend system. 
  • Reconcile Daily Securities Positions from Frontend to Backend system. 
  • Month End: Prepare and complete all items listed on the month end checklist by the due date
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, identifying discrepancies and reconciling accounts.
  • Supporting the accounting department with all aspects of the GL.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and managing accounts using various software programs.
  • Preparing and assisting with audits and tax reporting.


Required qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting preferred 
  • 3+  years of accounting experience
  • Excellent abilities in MS Office
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
  • Must be a self-starter and a team player
  • Fluent written and oral English skills.
